Laura Dawn Ouin has earned the reputation of a seasoned leader in Dallas, Texas’ business development space. Throughout the span of the last two decades, she has gained extensive hands-on expertise in not only business development, but in marketing and conflict communications.
She has worked across a multitude of disputes pertaining to family and small business issues, and real estate.
As an active listener and avid problem solver, Laura Dawn utilizes her expertise to facilitate options that will lead to resolutions within an empowered and confidential atmosphere. Ultimately, she is dedicated to being the go-to Mediator for those who want to preserve time, money, and potentially, business and family relationships without necessarily engaging fully in the litigation process. She uses the same approach to identify, clarify, and develop communications for small businesses.
“I am a credentialed Texas Mediator and I also teach conflict resolution, write about it, and speak about it. I am currently developing coursework to equip others in emotional intelligence and conflict! I’ve been doing this kind of work all of my career but concentrating specifically on mediating disputes and empowering others for the last five years.
I enjoy taking time to travel – both visiting new places in the US or abroad – because they renew my creativity and energy for my growth and enhance my ability to teach others! In my spare time (yes, there is such a thing!), you can usually find me reading something educational or engaging in one of my hobbies – reading, music, cooking, and yoga, to name a few.
Unsurprisingly, communication is an essential part of mediation, and we communicate a LOT everyday, even when we aren’t aware that we are.
When we communicate with others:
-We either gather information, give it or share ideas.
-We send verbal and non–verbal messages to others trying to influence their thoughts and behaviors.
-We can be influenced by what we receive from others, which can either positively or negatively impact our behavior toward them later on.
Effectively communicating positions, convictions, legalities, evidence, thoughts, feelings, history, and ideas leads to resolve. Even better, when effective communication is established at the beginning of any personal or business relationship, setting clear expectations can PREVENT many catastrophic conflicts!”
Laura Dawn has 1000+ hours session experience, advanced training in family, business and CPS mediation, holds Undergraduate Degrees and Certificates in both Computer Science and Mediation & Dispute Resolution, is a Microsoft Certified Professional with a specialty in Internet technology (MCP+I) and a Bachelor in Psychology.
She has served as a Dallas CASA and is a mediator with the Dallas County Dispute Resolution Center as well as her church. She is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and a Texas Mediator Credentialing Association (TMCA) Credentialed Mediator.
